Community Walks
What is a community Walk
Disclaimer
Expectations of owners
(draft) Your dog is the descendant of Grey Wolves. Yes, even your dog! Being part of a pack is necessary for every dogs health. However, our modern world doesn’t give us enough opportunities for our dogs to become part of a pack and that’s where community walks come in. These are weekly, scheduled, guided dog walks where the Staff of Russian River Dog Walkers can assist in the socialization of your pooch.
For insurance & legal reasons:
The staff of Russian River Dog Walkers & Pet Sitters are not trainers, veterinarians, or anything besides pet carers, walkers, and pet transporters. However, the mission of this company is to find ways to make our community stronger and we can offer our experience to those in our community.
❋ Collaborative Energy
Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.
We will be steadily building up the number of locations where we do these walks. We will Start on January 15th at Badger Park in Healdsburg @ 4:30pm. Over the following weeks we will add in Windsor & Geyserville. We will see how things go and make adjustments accordingly.
logistics
The purpose of these walks is to help dogs become better socialized so we will be expecting dogs that aren’t perfectly behaved to join us. We can use our experience to help owners understand their dogs and help their dog to become better socialized. We also will expect each owner to be responsible for their own dog and their dog’s waste. Bring a leash, an appropriate collar/harness, and dog bags.
What to expect for each walk
each walk will have a minimum of two Russian River staff members. At least one will be there 30 minutes before start time and each week we will provide some kind of dog/pet related educational topic, training topic, demonstration, possibly some light grooming, etc. One staff member will lead the walk while the other assists owners. We will always have extra water, a first aid kit, a phone, and assorted other equipment/supplies. We will continue the walks except if the temperature is 80 degrees or above, its a Red Flag day, poor air quality, etc.
Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
