Important Information

  • As is the case in many disasters, folks want to imediately donate physical items, volunteer, and offer other support. The entusiasm is fantastic but keep in mind that it can take considerable that these items have to be sorted, organized, and distributed which can pull resources that are needed elsewhere. In most cases a much more effective way of donating physical resources or time is to wait until a particular organization makes a specific request.

  • The recovery from any disaster is a long-haul. The animals impacted by these wildfires will need assistance for months or years and donations may be more impactful down the road.

  • Be aware that there are organizations and individuals out there who try to use disasters for nefarious purposes. Please try to verify any organization or individual you donate to. We promise to do our best to provide the best information available and to verify any information as best as we can.

  • This is a very fluid situation. Things will change quickly.

  • Many shelters or other animal groups will be offering discounts & other incentives for folks who want to adopt or foster animals currently in their care to help make room for animals displaced by the fires. This is also a wonderful way to assist animals impacted by the fires.
